Whitehall Manor Wedding Photography – Rose Wedding

In the week leading up to your wedding everyone feels its their duty to give you advice on what to expect.  How to deal with an earthquake and a hurricane is normally not included!  Kristen and Andrew were at the mercy of the Weather Gods when they got married at Historic Whitehall Manor in Bluemont, Virginia.  A rare east coast earthquake shook things up early in the week and then hurricane Irene hit on the day of the wedding.  A positive attitude is almost a requirement under the circumstances and Kristen and Drew had this in abundance.  Nothing was going to slow them down from making the most of their day and having a great time with friends and family.  The bride and groom are graduates of Ithaca College and the wedding was packed with fellow IC alum.  I felt a special connection to this enthusiastic group as I am one myself.  Go Bombers!

Olexa Wedding – Historic White Hall Manor, Bleumont, Virginia

Beth and Chris added a new twist to the meaning of fun at their wedding which I photographed at the Historic Whitehall Manor. There was literally not a dull moment from beginning to end. We started out by exploring the grounds with the couple.  They were such a willing couple that it was easy to take full advantage of the beautiful and dynamic setting. Interestingly enough I had photographed at this location the week before and I was very excited for another opportunity to explore this great place. Beth was quite the sport as she gathered up the layers of her bridal gown to maneuver over, around and threw the obstacles of a 19th century barn left to the devices of time: an unanticipated adventure perhaps, but well worth the striking images. The ceremony which followed was a Christian service with the added personal touch of Chris’s serenade to Beth with the accompaniment of other musical talent. Post ceremony the bride and groom where presented Hawaiian leys and with that the celebrations began. The newlyweds where first guaranteed a sweet future with their in-laws and many children with a Chinese tea ceremony.  Then the evening’s entertainment kicked off with Chinese Lion dancers, a tradition symbolizing the bringing of good luck and prosperity in the years to come and a phenomenal display of art and athleticism as the vibrant dragon seamlessly maneuvered through the tables and guests to the intense beating of live drums. I was touched by the speeches which revealed the depth of this couples relationship and recounted their 20 year long romance with sincerity and a bit of humor when Beth’s two sisters spoke of meeting Chris at ages six and nine. After many hours of eating, drinking, cake and dancing we said goodbye to the newlyweds amidst sparklers. It was a pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful celebration and I wish nothing but the best for this fantastic couple.
