I photographed Ted and Courtney’s wedding at the Historic White Hall Manor. I found the venue a beautiful choice for this event; the location balanced a sense of timeless elegance, warmth and personality. The place offered a fantastic combination of fun and creative locations to photograph as well as simple and iconic backdrops.
I arrived to find the bride preparing in what we may call the parlor with deep red walls and lace curtains very well suited for that of a readying bride. “One year ago I had absolutely no vision of what I wanted for my wedding and now look at this.” Though Courtney may not have had a vision one year prior, this was an event that carried vision in every detail. She even seemed to have a handle on the weather. For those of you who have been experiencing the exceptionally hot Virginia summer, you can understand the daunting prospect of a wedding in temperatures of 100 plus degrees. On Saturday however, we were graced with a rain that miraculously broke by 2pm and left us with a cool refreshing breeze and absolutely perfect weather for the beautiful outdoor ceremony to come. I enjoyed the service which reflected the tenderness between Ted and Courtney but also the carefree, fun and relaxed nature of their dynamic. Afterward the guests headed in for cocktails, dinner and a night full of dancing. One of the evening’s highlights was a slideshow presentation that Ted and Courtney prepared for their guests. It was wonderful to see childhood pictures and then images from the adventures that the couple had shared together. This was truly a beautiful event.
